Making Arizona Feel Like Home!
After much anticipation, I finally made my move to Arizona! My first few days at Ballet Arizona have been jam-packed with rehearsals for Balanchine’s Western Symphony and Walpurgisnacht. The first time I danced Western Symphony was my first year as a trainee with SFB, and I danced the fourth movement principle in the Student showcase. Three years later, I am dancing this fun ballet as a professional, as the first movement corps! It was a lot to learn as a new dancer, since the company has danced these ballets last season, but I am enjoying every minute of it! Walpurgisnacht is very different than Western, its more poised and elegant. We will be dancing these ballets on September 18-27, on an outdoor stage. This program is called Ballet Under the Stars which is a free performance open to the public.
The scenery here in Phoenix is completely opposite than anywhere I have lived before, but I am savoring the beautiful desert sunrises and sunsets. That will never get old for me! I am still getting settled in my new apartment. After rehearsals, my next job is assembling furniture at home. Everyday Phoenix is feeling more like home. I look foreword to what this season has to offer!
