DLMimi_solo_MAINWe are in the midst of our Ballet Under the Stars performances here at Ballet Arizona. I learned a little over a week ago that I was cast as the soloist girl in Walpurgisnacht, so I had a few last minute rehearsals to learn the choreography and hone in on the technique and essence of the role.  The waltzy solo is my ideal role, so I was very pleased to get this opportunity.

The first show in Sun City had an audience of over 2000 people! As my first major role as a professional, performing on an outdoor stage was a good way to get my bearings and challenge my performing skills. I enjoyed every minute of it! It was a great audience turn out and an amazing experience for us to share our hard work to a variety of people.  This series of free outdoor performances are a great way for people who don’t normally go to the theatre, to get a taste of ballet. There are a few more performances this week, so I am eager to see how things progress!
