I have occasionally done yoga in the past to stay in shape on breaks, or on the weekend when I have extra time, but I have found a newfound devotion and love for the practice.

At the moment, I am doing Bikram yoga (hot yoga). I find that doing the morning practice brings my day to a fresh start. The series of poses and movements are designed to create a stronger, toned and more flexible body and an improved state of mind encouraging relaxation, self-acceptance and awareness. I have found this to be incredibly beneficial for me as a ballet dancer. Its nice to unwind and unplug yourself from the outside world for 80 minutes and just focus on your body. I even have added some series of poses to my ballet warm up.

Yoga, like ballet, means something different for everyone. For me, yoga allows my mind to let go of the negative energy and for my body to recharge in a strong and centered way.
