YAGP Model Search Winner Jessica Takes California!
Earlier this year we held a model search for YAGP dancers from all around the country. There were tons of amazing applicants, and all of our finalists were fantastic, but it was dancer Jessica Kinnaman who rallied to get the most amount of votes, and was chosen our winner! Jessica recently flew out to our headquarters in Southern California for her photoshoot, and also her first trip to the west coast! We asked her a couple of questions about her experience, and here’s what she had to say.
Where were you when you found out that you were the Discount Dance YAGP model search winner?
I was at home with my family.
What was your reaction, and your friends and family’s reaction?
I was literally jumping up and down excited because I had always wanted to be a model for DDS. It was definitely a surprise! I felt so honored to be chosen and I am so thankful.
Was this your first time visiting to the West Coast?
Yes. The farthest west I had ever been was Austin TX when I went to the YAGP 2015 regionals.
What was your favorite part of the photo shoot day?
Meeting everyone was amazing and just being a part of the “team” was so much fun. I also loved getting sneak peaks of new apparel.
What advice would you give new DDS models?
Be familiar with different modeling poses that are simple because the shoot is about modeling the actual apparel, making it look as good as possible.
Did you get to see any other parts of California while you were out here?
While I was in California I was able to go on a Starline Tour around Los Angles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica etc. It was great to kind of get a huge glimpse of some of the best parts of California!
What was the most memorable part of your YAGP model search winner experience in general?
Being a part of such an amazing company and being with such friendly people making the whole experience fun and enjoyable!
What are your dance goals/plans for this fall season?
This year I am going to YAGP once again with Akhmedova Ballet Academy in the next semester, but until then my goal is just to continue my training to become the best dancer and artist I can be.
