Fall dance class is always an exciting time. New classes, new teachers, maybe even new styles! It’s very important to set goals for your dance training. The more specific the goal, the better. We asked some of our wonderful and talented DDS models what their dance goals are for fall, and here’s what they had to say!

My goals for the fall dance season are to continue training, to gain strength in my technique and my artistry. I’ll be gearing up for Nutcracker performances and my move to NYC to join the American Ballet Theater Studio Company!

-Juliet Doherty

This fall I will transition from being a pre-professional dance student at The Rock School for Dance Education, under the direction of Bo & Stephanie Spassoff, to a professional artist. I’m excited to say I have joined Charlotte Ballet, under the direction of Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux & Kennedy Center honoree Patricia McBride, as a company artist for the 2015-2016 season.  It is sure to be a great season with the company-high 60 performances in Charlotte, NC, a new partnership with Gaillard Center which will take us to Charleston, SC, and summer in Chautauqua, NY.

My goals as a professional artist for the fall season is to arrive healthy and prepared to dance my personal best, put in the necessary time and effort into my physical, technical, artistic and mental training to achieve my aspirations of making my performances beautiful and memorable. I want to dance with artistry and heart until the curtain falls and revel in the performance once finished.  While working to achieve my personal goals, my hope is to also inspire others.

-Sarah Lapointe

My main goal this year is to be successful at San Francisco ballet school! To finish the year and become a stronger dancer. I hope to learn a lot from the world renowned faculty!

-Leili Rackow

This fall season, as I continue into my second year at Juilliard, I have many goals for myself. Of course, some include specifics in technique. But others are more geared towards developing myself as an artist. I really want to let myself dive into every class and every style thrown at me, allowing me to better and fully understand my own movement. In the past, it has taken me some time to warm up to a new style or technique in order to give it my all. Allowing myself to indulge faster will in turn give me so much knowledge about myself as a dancer, mover, and artist.
